Great Friends!

Last night Addison and Bailey were playing on the floor and were so sweet together! I don't know which one of them is more in love, Addison or Bailey. Addison just screams when Bailey runs into the room and Bailey starts bucking and jumping when she sees Addison...it is so cute! Scott and I were a little nervous about how Bailey would take to having Addison around, but as you can see, she is so gentle with her and is such a good girl!

They love to stare at each other

And Addison loves to pet Bailey's soft face

Bailey always inches closer

Even though Addison sometimes grabs her eye

Most of the time Bailey just lays there

And lets Addison hold her hand

And Addison lets Bailey sniff her clothes

Addison is just fascinated!

Addison even shares her toys

They are great friends!!

Check!

I did lots of checking last weekend thanks to my excellent helpers, my mom and dad and Addison! Scott was playing in a 2-day golf tournament so he was off the hook!

Task One: make new window treatment for master bathroom (details here)...

CHECK!

Task Two: take down the front door, remove the hardware, sand it, paint it (3 coats) and re-hang...

CHECK!

Task Three: vacuum out garage, clean out and organize “stuff”, install new metal shelves and get rid of old furniture...

(sorry, no pictures of this!)

CHECK!
(Thanks Stephanie for letting us give away our junk with yours!)

Task Four: yard work (finishing filling new flower bed with soil, plant new plants & flowers, mulch...can you tell we still have some gutter work to do?; transplant large shrubs from front yard to backyard; feed azaleas with peat moss & food; transplant day lilies; take out cedar tree and plant two new large pots on either side of the garage; mulch all front beds and back beds; plant miscellaneous pots and much more!)...

BIG CHECK!

Task Five: remove old house numbers, sand and paint the wood and install new house numbers...

CHECK!

I didn't exactly get around to doing the laundry, so that's what I've been working on all week. I'm also making more cake dots for Shelby's Graduation Dinner tomorrow night!!

Bottom Up!

No not that bottom…although it is rather cute!

I’m referring to the new window treatment that I made for our master bathroom last Friday night.

Our master bathroom is on the back of the house and the large window over the bathtub looks into our backyard. I would prefer to leave the blinds open to make it lighter, but our backyard is open to a walking path so there are some privacy issues there! It’s a huge hassle to step into the tub each time we want to open or close the binds, so the majority of the time they stay closed.

Well last week I decided that I’d had enough and we needed a change! After going to dinner with some friends on Friday night, I whipped up this “Bottom Up” shade. It was so simple to do and has made a huge impact! It literally took about 20 minutes (if you don’t count the time I spent unjamming my sewing machine!) and only involved sewing 4 straight lines! I purchased one yard of fabric (on sale of course) and 2 tension rods…that’s it! The only trick is to be sure to make the top and bottom seams large enough for the tension rods to slide through.

The daylight can come in during the day now and at night, no one can see in…it’s a win-win!!

New Trick

Well Addison learned a new trick this weekend. She now goes from all fours to sitting by sliding her leg under her and landing on her bottom. She is so proud of herself for doing this, you can just see it on her face! This new trick, however, has started causing problems at nap time! I will lay her in the crib and before I even leave the room, she’s sitting up! I told Mom on Sunday that she was just going to have to learn how to fall over so she could go to sleep. She cried and fought for about 20 minutes before she got quiet and finally fell asleep. I checked the monitor and just died laughing! I ran and got my camera so I could capture this:

That’s right, she literally just fell over and went to sleep…not quite what I had in mind! And yes, her Pacie is on her foot!

Many of my friends have advised me that it's now time to lower her crib to the 2nd level. Scott didn't think it was time yet, but we lowered last night anyway. After I put her to bed, I just sat in her rocker and cried. I can't believe she's old enough to be sitting up in her crib! I knew this day would come, but I thought it would be much later.

P.S. I did roll her over so she could rest comfortably for the rest of her 3 HOUR nap!

Re-Form

Our patio project is still in the works. The crew came on Saturday and installed the forms for the concrete. But when we got home to inspect the job, the forms weren't quite what we had in mind! They had the right idea, but it needed some definite tweaking!

The crew came back out yesterday morning and re-formed the patio.

The exciting news is that they also poured the concrete yesterday afternoon!! These aren’t my official “after” pictures, but it’s getting closer!!
