picnic lunch

On one of the days I kept Addi home after her surgery and sent Halle to school, we packed up a picnic and headed to (you guessed it) the park!

Here's my thirty-one cooler bag that matches my blanket.

And here's my squirly-girly in her Tink sunglasses.

"Mama, what you said?" 

I've really been working with her on learning how to swing by herself in the big-girl swings.

just another day at the park

I'm telling you, we have been at the park so much lately just because it was cool enough for us to go!  

Halle wants to roll over so bad!  She's getting close! 

Scott wants me to make sure that I give him credit for taking this picture.  It was all luck. 

And here I am, white legs and all.  At least it's documented that I was there, right?

bead work

Another fun activity involved beads...lots of beads!

I just put them in a tub and gave her all kinds of scoopers and the same cups she used with the colored water.  She sorted them all different way, by color, by shape, etc.

One of her favorite scoops is our leftover scoopers from the formula cans.  I've been saving them all so we have about 20 floating around our house already (they're also great fun in the bathtub!)...

She also liked filling the cups and putting the lids on and using them as blocks. 

And of course Halle loves to watch her play! 

I kid you not when I say that for the past two weeks she might have played with beads and cups for over 10 hours!  You can ask mom or Scott...they are my witnesses!

colored water

After Addi's surgery, I tried to plan activities for her to do during the day that would keep her from wanting to run around like a crazy person.  Even though she felt fine, I didn't want her to over do it and take a turn for the worst.  

I bought a package of disposable cups and lids at the store along with some colored "shot" glasses (we just call them little cups).  

I colored water with food coloring and let her play with the water and cups on cookie sheets.  I gave her different things to pour with and she even loved using eye-droppers.  I'm serious when I say that she probably spent at least an hour a day doing this activity.  SCORE!

This particular day, she insisted on wearing her purple whistle around her neck.  She said she needed it.  ha!

And sweet Halle just watched her sister and cooed and blew bubbles. 

I'm not sure why, but when Addi is working on a task that requires concentration, she usually pops one foot.  Her tongue is always out too.
